Freiburg 0-0 Eintracht Frankfurt: Misfiring Strikers Ensure Scoreless Draw (Goal.com)
Despite the presence of Bundesliga sharp-shooters Papiss Demba Cisse and Theofanis Gekas, SC Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt played out a dull scoreless draw.
Chances were few and far between before the interval with die Adler coming the closest to breaking the deadlock. Oliver Baumann denied Patrick Ochs halfway through the first period and the utility player, who shunned a winter move to Schalke 04, shot over three minutes before the break after a Johannes Flum error had let in Sebastian Jung.
The half-time break came at a bad time for Eintracht, who were in the ascendancy, and it allowed Freiburg back into the game. Cedric Makiadi shot over on 58 minutes after Georgios Tzavellas had headed Felix Bastians' cross away.
Cisse had a golden chance to win the three points for die Breisgau Brasilianer on 66 minutes. The Senegalese hitman shot wide at the far post after a free-kick though in fairness he was surprised that the ball had landed at his feet.
Both Robin Dutt and Michael Skibbe made a whole host of changes in the closing stages in an attempt to secure the victory however it was not to be. Maik Franz went close on 79 minutes when his effort had Baumann struggling but he was denied by the bar.
Freiburg's point consolidates their place in the top six with 34 points with Eintracht in tenth just below Hamburg.
