Rennes triumph to edge up to second (Reuters)

PARIS, Feb 13 (Reuters) - Stade Rennes won 2-0 at home to Nice on Sunday to climb to second in Ligue 1 and complete an usual look at the top of the table with just three months left in the season.

Fellow surprise packages Lille lead the way by two points and can extend their advantage to five with victory at home to Toulouse in the late game (2000 GMT).

Rennes, who lost to second-tier Stade de Reims in the French Cup last 16 earlier this month, broke the deadlock after 52 minutes thanks to Colombian striker Victor Montano’s header and Togo’s Razak Boukari netted a penalty soon after.

Paris St Germain were second going into the weekend games but drew 0-0 at home to Racing Lens on Saturday having lost 1-0 at Rennes last week.

Mid-table Valenciennes won 3-0 at home to Stade Brest on Sunday.
