Kalou 'n Nic show Torr de force - The Sun

{

Although Salomon Kalou and Nicolas Anelka were both on target at Sunderland, manager Carlo Ancelotti cannot wait to link Torres with Didier Drogba against the Spaniard's old club Liverpool on Sunday.

Ancelotti said: "Torres can play in every team because he has such fantastic ability.

With his quality he will have no problem settling into our team.

"I know what he is - he is not a keeper, not a defender, he is a striker and he will play as a striker. And he will have no problems playing with Drogba."

Ancelotti is also considering throwing ?21m defender David Luiz into the fray against Kenny Dalglish's men.

He added: "He has fantastic quality as a defender so he won't have a problem because he has experience in the Champions League this season.

"He can play from the back with top quality because he is also a midfielder plus in all the positions of the back four."

The new arrivals clearly motivated the Blues old boys into recapturing their best form in a thrilling encounter at the Stadium of Light.

Ancelotti added: "Everyone knows the ability of these players and everyone is happy because they know these new players can improve this squad."

But the Italian admits the return to form might be too late to rescue the title.

He said: "The gap is the same because Man United won too. Our aim is to do our best.

"We have won the last two away games and will do our best until the end. If it will be enough I don't know.

"It doesn't depend on us. It will be difficult to close the gap on Man United if they keep winning."

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce was in awe of Chelsea and admitted Torres and Drogba up front, was a "mouth-watering prospect."

But he is still backing former club United to lift the title.

Bruce said: "Ten points ahead at this stage of the season makes it highly debatable for Chelsea to win it.

"But what we know is they are playing again like the Chelsea that won the Double last season. They are a fantastic team."

And he brought the house down with his reaction to the Blues' ?71m deadline-day spending.

He added: "I went to see the King's Speech and when I came out and heard that I had a stutter!"
